Zinke: WA Offshore Drilling Unlikely, Increased Park Fees May Stay

Congressman Derek Kilmer seeking answers from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke on issues including the Trump Administration’s plan to open up America’s coastal waters to offshore drilling, an update on negotiations between the Park Service and the city of PA over The Elwha River restoration project – as well as the maintenance backlog within the National Parks System that led to Zinke to announce higher entrence fees this year.

Zinke said he will personally get involved in the Elwa River restoration negotiation because he wants to see the matter resolved.  And Zinke says he supports efforts by tribes and others to restore fisheries in the state – which he says have deteriorated.

However Zinke did not commit to changing his plan to raise Park entrance fees to pay for maintenance.
