Olympic National Park counts 3.4 million visits in 2017

Olympic National Park visitors spent $279 million in neighboring towns last year, supporting more than 3,500 jobs in gateway communities like Port Angeles and Forks.

Park officials are reporting 3.4 million visits to Olympic in 2017- with growth in annual visitation in each of the last five years.

Superintendent Sarah Creachbaum says Olympic National Park welcomes visitors from across the country and around the world.

The Park Service says the cumulative benefit to the Olympic Peninsula economy was $385 million.

Recreational visits to ONP have steadily risen from 2.8m in 2012 to 3.4m in 2017.
