Most County Incumbents Without Challengers

A lot of county office holders may be continuing in their current positions.  That after the third day of candidate filing week yielded no new races for county office – and only one countywide incumbent office holder even has a challenger so far.

That’s Department of Community Development Director Mary Ellen Winborn who is challenged by land use planner Julie Gardiner.

Incumbents who filed this week include Prosecuting Attorney Mark Nichols,  Assessor Pam Rushton, Sheriff Bill Benedict and Treasurer Teresa Marchi.

County Commissoner Bill Peach of Forks is also running for re-election – so far unopposed.

There is a race for West End District 2 court Judge to replace John Doherty – who is not running.  That’s between Beaver lawyer John Black and county Superior Court Judge Erik Rohrer of Forks have filed for District Court 2.

The deadline for filing is Friday.
