Farmworkers’ Union Stages Walkout on Berry Farm

A farmworkers’ union is asking for a wage increase at a major Washington state berry producer. Workers have staged six walkouts against the Sakuma (sa-KOO-ma) Brothers’ Berry Farm in the past three years, asking for better wages and working conditions and for farm management to agree to negotiations.

Disaster Drill Planned for June 7-10

— An all-day webcast on what elected officials should do during a disaster will be shown at the Port Angeles City Hall today.

The webcast, sponsored by the Association of Washington Cities and open to the public, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There’s a major exercise coming up.   The Cascadia Rising 2016 disaster-response drill June 7-10.

Cascadia Rising will test local governments’ response to a simulated magnitude-9.0 earthquake off the Oregon Coast in the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

The webcast today will be in the engineering conference room on the second floor of PA City Hall.


Nintendo Selling Majority Stake in Mariners

John Stanton Slated to Replace Howard Lincoln as Chairman and CEO

Nintendo of America today announced the planned sale of a majority of its interest in the Seattle Mariners to other members of the current ownership group. Under the plan, Nintendo of America will retain a 10% stake in the team, while the remainder of its holdings will be sold to other members of First Avenue Entertainment LLLP (FAE). FAE is the limited partnership that owns the Seattle Mariners, and a majority interest in ROOT Sports NW. Closing the transaction is subject to the finalization of legal contracts and approval from Major League Baseball which is expected in August of this year.


As part of the deal and at closing, current CEO Howard Lincoln will retire from day-to-day operations, and John Stanton will replace him as Chairman and CEO, and as the designated Major League Baseball Control Person. Lincoln will continue on as a member of the FAE Board of Directors, representing Nintendo’s ownership interests.

Mick Dodge Says He Quit Program

You won’t be seeing any new episodes of The Legend of Mick Dodge on the National Geographic channel.

Mick Dodge says he quit after three seasons citing creative differences saying he has decided not to renew his contract with the National Geographic Channel.

RenewCancelTV says the network cancelled the program in December.


Dodge said his contract expired late last year.

Dodge says “That made me free and clear.” Adding  that he is working with a producer to develop another program based on the people of the North Olympic Peninsula.


The show ends with 32 episodes that were aired from Jan 7 , 2014 until Feb 17, 2015.

Escaped Psychiatric Patients Sought

Police in Lakewood, Washington are searching for two patients described as dangerous- who escaped from Western State Hospital, a psychiatric facility. Police have identified them as Mark Alexander Adams and Anthony Garver.. Police also say Garver was found to be incompetent to stand trial after being charged in 2013 with murder.
