And campaign season leads to charges of stolen campaign signs.

The Jefferson county sheriff’s office says Approximately 50 Ryan McAllister campaign signs have been illegally removed from properties throughout the county in the past two weeks.

The value of the signs altogether is more than $500.

McAllister is running for the District 3 county commissioner seat currently held by Kathleen Kler, who is not seeking reelection.

A campaign spokesman says the signs were placed on public rights of way and on private property throughout the district with permission from the owners.

The candidate Filing Period this year is May 14-18, 2018
