Chinook Breakin Suspect to be Arraigned Friday

Arraignment set for today for the man facing charges in connection with burglaries at the Blackberry Cafe in Joyce and Chinook Pharmacy in Forks.

28 year-old Sean Vince Della was arrested during the alleged burglary in Joyce.

He is also facing second-degree burglary and third-degree malicious mischief charges after the Chinook Pharmacy was burglarized Sept. 2.  Police administrator Rick Bart says it was not hard to determine the suspect in that case.

Della’s  arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. today.

He remained in the Clallam County jail Thursday without bond. He was originally booked into the jail on a Department of Corrections warrant.

Sheriff’s Look For Man Who Tried to Lure Girl Into Truck

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 9-year-old girl reported that a strange man told her to get in his truck.

Chief Criminal Deputy Brian King says the incident happened at about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday near Mount Pleasant and Marsden roads as the Roosevelt Elementary School student was walking home from her bus stop..

King says they want to identify the male who was talking to the girl and find out his intent.

The girl told deputies the man was between 40 and 50, had gray and white hair — possibly a flattop — and a beard.

The man was driving a a truck described as an older, smaller Toyota-like truck with no tailgate and shiny wheels- and had a small white dog with black spots.

Bill in U.S. Senate Would Protect Whistleblowers at Nuclear Sites

A new bill would protect employees who report on safety concerns at nuclear sites, as well as concerns about fraud, waste, and abuse. The bill would also put government contractors on the hook for legal fees in whistleblower cases

Chinook Pharmacy Break-in Suspect Arrested

The man wanted in connection with the break in at Chinook Pharmacy last month has been arrested.

Forks Police administrator Rick Bart says Sean Della has been taken into custody.

Bart says they identified Della through a video surveillance camera at the pharmacy and posted it on FB.  They received numerous calls from people who knew Della.

Della is being held at the Clallam county jail.

Bart is also warning residents that they have had several auto break-ins in the past few week.  He is asking people not to leave valuables in their car.  He says there is a peak time for car break-ins;

First Responders Drill on Strait Today

The U.S. Coast Guard and more than a dozen other agencies are teaming up for a mass-rescue drill today in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Port Angeles residents will see activity in the Strait off Ediz Hook and around the Port Angeles Coast Guard base beginning at about 8 a.m. today.

The full-scale international maritime mass-rescue exercise will be the first in Port Angeles, according to Lt. Dana Warr of the Coast Guard 13th District external affairs department.

In the drill, responders from both sides of the border will respond to a simulation of a passenger ship sinking.
